Catching up!

A quick, little update from the world of Gender Pop

Hey there, it's been a moment! My intention was to create a blog entry for every episode, but I quickly realized a) no one was bothering to read them and b) that would be a little too much work when other facets of podcast production are more important.

However, I still like the idea of having a space where I can more directly connect with the audience and offer something a little more than the episodes themselves. I probably just need to rethink how I do that, which likely means I will still do blog posts, but not specifically for each episode. Gender Pop, while still relatively new, is chugging along nicely and I thought I would just go over some of the exciting developments!

December Drops:

So, what's going on with the pod right now? Well, the Ho Ho Horror series is underway! There will be 3 full episodes released this month to commemorate the holidays and to send this first year off with a bang. And what says the "happiest" time of year other than a good ol' fashioned slasher film, right? Podcast mainstay James Wright joins me to discuss all 3 Black Christmas movies.

The first one has already been released, which you can find on the podcast page of this very website (or wherever you'd like to listen). The next will be dropped on the 16th and the final one the 23rd. I worked really hard on bringing this altogether, it was some of the most challenging editing I've done thus far, so it would mean a lot if you checked them out.

What's Ahead:

Good question! As the podcast heads into the new year new episodes will keep being released every month, but I may be ramping up how many. Ideally, I would like it to be more than once a month, but that depends on a lot.

In addition to that I would really love to widen the net on guests and hope to get people of all kinds of backgrounds, with more academic or expert knowledge on some subjects that come up within the media discussed. Even those with different lived experiences than me would be a plus. So, I will be doing my best to make that happen, but as Gender Pop is still finding its way it may take a little longer than I'd like.

Patience is key! Or so I tell myself as I get increasingly more impatient.

There are already a couple recordings in the can, but I'm still puzzle piecing the schedule together. The work never ends for a podcast and being a one-person production studio is a foolish endeavor. What can I say?

At the end of the day subscribing, listening, sharing, & following will always be what helps the most. I have high hopes for this podcast & with the amount of worked involved coupled with the continuing horrors of everything it can be a lot to stay on top of.

So, whenever I see I have a new follower or subscriber or that the stream number has gone up it lights my fuse to keep going. I appreciate any engagement I can get right now which is why I must end this on the desperate plea that this is. But you all know this, I'm sure many of you are creators yourself, which is why you know how important it is.
